INKA pallets are classified as "processed wood" in terms of ISPM15 / NIMF15 and do not therefore fall under the regulations of the comprehensive body of directives for non-manufactured wood. A heat treatment or fumigation treatments with the insecticide Methyl bromide required of solid wood pallets as well as an IPPC marking are not obligatory for INKA pallets! In the meantime, almost 200 countries have adjusted their requirements for the ISPM 15 standard that the IPPC directive adopted.

Freight transport and pallets for shipping containers
Inka pallets can also be used in freight transport. The special container formats F76 and F11 are ideal for transport in freight containers. As opposed to the Euro format, our pallets with dimensions of 760 x 1140 mm (F76) and 1140 x 1140 mm (F11) optimally use the area of freight containers to the last centimeter. Pallets of type F11 fit exactly twice next to each other in the container. The narrower F76 pallet can be stowed in rows of three to make optimal use of the expensive container space.
Like all other Inka pallets, our pallets for shipping containers meet the requirements of ISPM 15 and can be exported worldwide without additional pretreatment and IPPC marking.
Pallets for air cargo - light and tamper proof
Inka pallets are light and can be stacked to save space and can be exported without any ISPM 15 - pretreatment and IPPC marking. Since 2013 air cargo has been subject to increased security requirements. In order for an air cargo shipment to be tamper proof, it must be packed in such a way that no one can hide explosives in it afterward. Inka pallets are ideal in that matter because they have a closed floor area in which nothing can be hidden. If they are fully loaded and strapped or wrapped with foil including the feet and the edges, Inka pallets are considered tamper proof and will not be a subject of additional screening. However, the prerequisite is that the shipper is registered with the Federal Aviation Administration as a "known shipper", regardless of which packaging is chosen.
1. What does the ISPM 15 standard mean?
ISPM 15 is an international standard for phytosanitary measures. It was published by the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) office and is intended to prevent migration of pests in wooden packagings, such as boxes and pallets, by standardized import regulations.
2. Why is it important that Inka pallets are ISPM 15 compliant?
Plant pests can nest unnoticed in wooden packagings such as boxes or pallets and thus be transported into countries where they are not native. Such pests can be very dangerous for the local flora. In times of globalization, this is a major problem that ISPM 15 is intended to counter. According to ISPM 15 regulation, wooden packagings must be treated and marked before import to prevent plant pests from being transported. These regulations do not apply to Inka pallets, as our pallets are made of pressed wood making it impossible for pests to nest in them. That allows Inka pallets to be exported without any pretreatment and marking, saving exporters time and money.
3. Are Inka pallets certified according to ISPM 15?
ISPM 15 is not a certification procedure, but a part of the international standard for phytosanitary measures. Inka pallets are ISPM-15 compliant: since they are made of pressed wood, no plant pests can nest in our pallets. Pressed wood is therefore excluded from the specifications of ISPM 15 allowing it to be imported without additional pretreatment and marking.
